It’s our sincere wish that you enjoyed a wonderful holiday season surrounded by family and friends.
Thank you for joining us at our annual Family First New Years’ Eve Celebration and making it a tremendous success as we bid goodbye to 2019 and welcomed 2020 together!
A new year marks a new beginning, new people to meet, new adventures to enjoy and new memories to create. From our homes to yours, we extend our very best wishes for a successful, happy and healthy new year.
Let’s get out and get active
The Recreation Department prides itself in offering a wide variety of community activities to promote social, mental and physical well-being. Along with our many events, we really just want you to get out and get active.
Have you heard about our snowshoe lending program? This program encourages you to stay active, even in the chilly winter months. Plus, it’s a great way to get outdoors and enjoy the snow, fresh air and our beautiful trails. We have snowshoes available to sign out, free of charge, at the Amherst Stadium, the YMCA and Four Fathers Memorial Library.
Have you had a chance to try out our outdoor skating surface?
Our dedicated town crew has been working hard to keep the ice surface, located at Victoria Street and Maple Avenue, ready for you to enjoy. It’s another great way to enjoy the outdoors during winter. Grab your skates and enjoy a weekday skate during your lunch break or make it a family skate date on the weekend! Open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week, weather permitting.
Winter Carnival
Mark your calendars for the winter carnival!
The Town of Amherst invites local organizations and businesses to get involved in the sixth annual Amherst Winter Carnival that is being held on Feb. 11 to 17, 2020.
Here are two ways you can help make this the biggest and best winter carnival ever:
Many organizations and businesses organize events during the carnival that relate to our theme, "heart, culture, and play." We would be happy to include them in our brochure and promotional activities. Send us the details of your event before Jan. 15, 2020, so we can be sure to have it included.
We are planning a series of events in the conference room at the Community Credit Union Business Innovation Centre.
Not sure what your organization might do to be involved? Here are some ideas to get you started:
host a pancake breakfast, chowder lunch or potluck
- organize a musical or cultural event
- run a fundraising event
- present a workshop, lunch 'n’ learn or information session
Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions by emailing @amherstrecreation.ca
Stay tuned for more details.
