SYDNEY, N.S. — The host Glace Bay Panthers remain unbeaten in the Panther Classic high school hockey tournament at the Canada Games Complex.

The Panthers posted a 7-6 shootout victory over the Cobequid Educational Centre Cougars Friday night.

Logan Snow scored three goals for the Panthers in regulation time, while Liam Burke added a pair of goals. Brayden Boutilier added a single marker.

The shootout winner was not available.

Colby Wolfe notched three goals for the Cougars, while Nick Marshall, Ewan MacKinnon and Jeremy O’Connell chipped in with single markers.

Colton Boutilier made 36 saves for Glace Bay. Brandon White posted 32 saves for CEC.

Earlier in the day, the Panthers downed the Memorial Marauders 6-4.

Snow and Xavier Johnson both scored twice, while Adam Hicks and David Beaton also netted goals for the Glace Bay school.

Jacob Jessome buried a pair of goals for the Marauders, while Evan Fraser and Jacob Fraser also found the score sheet.

Owen Coombes made 12 saves before being replaced by Colton Boutilier, who stopped two shots in his 7:25 of relief.

Cole Pygiel turned aside 25 of 31 shots in the loss.

Meanwhile, Riverview was defeated 3-1 by the Auburn Drive Eagles. Earlier in the day, the Redmen downed the CEC Cougars 3-1.

As for Sydney Academy, they picked up a 3-2 overtime victory over the Dr. J.H. Gillis Royals Friday morning.

In other action, Auburn Drive defeated Dr. J.H. Gillis 6-2.

The Panther Classic will continue on Saturday with Sydney Academy playing CEC at 10 a.m., followed by Glace Bay and Dr. J.H. Gillis at 12 p.m., and Auburn Drive versus Memorial at 2 p.m.

The semifinals are slated for 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Saturday, while the championship contest will be played Sunday at 1 p.m.
