Tattrie captures regular season scoring title with 12-point game

SPRINGHILL, N.S. – A 12-point scoring spree by Jon Tattrie in the final game of the Amherst Adult Hockey League regular season pushed him to the top of AAHL scoreboard.

The incident occurred March 14 at the Richard Calder Arena in Springhill.

Going into the final game, Tattrie, who plays for Maltby Sports, had 81 points, 11 points behind Ryan Smith, who plays for Colson Overhead Doors.

Maltby Sports beat Ultramar 15-2 in the final game, with Tattrie scoring four goals and eight assists, giving him 93 points on the season, one point up on Smith.

Tattrie’s teammates Chris Maltby and Chris Sproul also scored big in the final game of the season. Maltby had 11 assists, while Sproul had five goals and two assists.

Tattrie finished the regular season with 43 goals and 50 assists, while Smith finished with 59 goals and 33 assists.

The other three scorers on the top five regular season leader board were:

Chris Sproul, Maltby Sports, was third with 76 points, 35 goals and 41 assists.

Brad Linkletter, Ultramar, was fourth with 52 points, 31 goals and 21 assists.

Malcolm Estabrooks, J&K Electric, was fifth with 45 points, 20 goals and 25 assists.

The regular season ended with J&K Electric finishing atop the regular season standings with 36 points, 16-10-4 (win-loss-tie); Maltby Sports second with 35 points, 16-11-3; Colson Overhead Doors third with 30 points, 9-6-2; and Ultramar fourth with 19 points. 7-18-5.

That means that Tattrie and Smith are facing off against each other in a semi-final playoff showdown.

On March 17 at Amherst Stadium, Colson Overhead Doors captured Game 1 with a 5-4 victory over Malby Sports. Smith scored four goals for Colson, and Tattrie had one goal for Maltby.

Chris Sproul added two goals and one assist for Maltby, and Aaron Dobson added one goal and one assist.

Also scoring for Colson was Geoff Ryan with one goal and one assist.
