DIEPPE, N.B. – Kieran Sears scored his second goal of the game in overtime to lift the Cumberland County Amherst Toyota Ramblers to a 3-2 win over the Pictou County Crushers to capture the Peewee AA championship at the Dieppe-Memramcook Minor Hockey Tournament on Jan. 14.
Sears scored in the first period for the Ramblers while Mandel Nickerson also scored. Kyle Edwards and Burke Beed added assists for the Ramblers, who were tied 1-1 after one period and 2-2 after two.
John Kay Martin had a goal and an assist for the Crushers with Wyatt Spence also scoring.
The Ramblers got into the final with a 4-1 win over the KV Hawks with Burke Beed scoring once and adding an assist and Kieran Sers and, Mandel Nickerson and Aidan McBurnie also scoring.
Cumberland County opened the tournament with a 6-0 win over the Antigonish Bulldogs.
Burke Beed scored twice with Kyler Edwards and Nolan McNally each adding a goal and an assist.
Hayden Crocket earned the shutout.
Aidan McBurnie and Reece MacDonald also scored for the Ramblers with Mandel Nickerson chipping in two assists and James Carr, Ethan Rose and Alex Herrett adding assists.
In their second game, Brady Stack and Aidan McBurnie each scored twice as the Ramblers defeated the KV Sabres 7-1.
Kieran Sears and Alex Herrett each had a goal and three assists and Sam Maddison, Ethan Rose, Nate Arseneau and Ben MacDonald also had assists.
Luc Savoie had the lone goal for KV.
In their final round robin game, Aidan McBurnie had two goals and an assist as Cumberland County defeated the Kent South Flames 4-1.
Burke Beed and Ethan Rose each scored once and James Carr had two assists.
