SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — It was a dramatic finish to the 2019 Consolidated Credit Union peewee A female hockey tournament at Credit Union Place recently.

The Quad County Pirates from Nova Scotia defeated the Pownal Team One Red Devils in the championship game that required a shootout. But this shootout was different than most as both teams went through their respective 13-plus-player rosters before the Pirates notched the title-clinching goal for a 2-1 victory.

Jorgia Cox of the Pirates and the Red Devils’ Halle Blanchard matched each other save for save throughout the marathon shootout.

Addison Murray of the Pirates and Hannah Murphy of the Red Devils were the goaltenders.

Avah Landry of Quad County was named the tournament’s most valuable player while all-stars were Wood, Marianna MacIsaac (Quad County), Hayden MacPherson (Pownal One), Kate Campbell (Pownal Two), Nicole Spatuk (Capital District), Ryland Hearn (Summerside Two) and Amelia MacCallum (Fundy).
