MIDDLETON, N.S. —

The Middleton Monarchs Senior Boys volleyball team earned the right to host the Nova Scotia School Athletic Federation Division 2 Provincial Volleyball Championships by winning the Western Regional Championship in Liverpool last week.

During Regional Championship round-robin action the Monarchs defeated Yarmouth 25-7 and 25-6; AWEC 25-21, 24-26, 15-7; and host Liverpool 25-7, 25-15. In the final verses AWEC the Monarchs came out strong and never took their foot of the pedal defeating their opponent 25-8 and 25-16 to capture the Regional crown.

The Monarchs look to continue their winning ways this weekend Dec. 6 and 7 when they host the six team NSSAF Division 2 Provincial Championship. The Monarchs are not strangers to the Provincial Championships either as they are the defending champions from last year. Many of the players said, “They would take nothing for granted when heading into the weekends matchups, but they do hope their experience will help them win another title.”

action begins Friday, Dec. 6 at 3 p.m. with the opening ceremonies to follow the first matches of the day. Qualifying teams this year include Pomquet, Dalbrae, AWEC, South Colchester, CB Highlands, and Middleton. Action continues Saturday with a 10 a.m. start time with the Gold Medal Match slated for 3:30 p.m.
