The Amherst CIBC Wood Gundy Ramblers made two trades on Aug. 3 - one with Summerside and the other with Miramichi.

Amherst sent future considerations to the Summerside Western Capitals and Miramichi Timberwolves. In return, Amherst obtains the rights to 19-year-old defencemen Kyle Nichol from Summerside along with 19-year-old forward Jason Gallant from Miramichi.

Ramblers general manager Jeff LeBlanc said they added Junior A experience at the defence, and forward positions.

“Kyle Nichol had a great rookie season last year with Summerside. Kyle is a defence-first type of defenceman that moves the puck out of his dzone. He played in some big games during Summerside’s playoff run and that added experience is nice,” LeBlanc said

LeBlanc said he has been watching Gallant for a few years.

“Jason's a gritty two way forward that has offensive ability. He knows our players well and it should be an easy transition for him coming into Amherst. We are happy we added him to our forward group. He's a player we've been watching for a little while now,” LeBlanc added.

earlier sent Mark Rumsey to the Fredericton Red Wings in exchange for second and eighth round picks in the 2020 draft.

LeBlanc said the club traded a player that didn’t want to play in Amherst.

“We always liked Mark and think he could be a very good player in the league. In saying that he didn’t want to play in Amherst. Last season in training camp we committed to him for the season and he left. We just weren’t a right fit for him. I’m happy we were able to add two picks we’ll need down the road.” LeBlanc said.
