Ramblers lose in shootout to Blizzard

EDMUNSTON – The Amherst CIBC Wood Gundy Ramblers lost 4-3 in a shootout to the Blizzard on Friday night in Edmunston, N.B.

The Ramblers were up 3-0 early in the third period before the Blizzard fought back to force overtime.

First Period

Bradley Dawe scored on a power play midway through the first period to give the Ramblers a 1-0 lead off passes from Dawson Grenier and Brady Griffin-Hefford.

Griffin-Hefford put the Ramblers up 2-0 at 14:27 into the first period. The goal was scored on the power play off a pass from Jordan King.

Second Period

Lucas Sangster put the Ramblers up 3-0 at 17:16 into the second period with assists from Caleb Rich and Griffin-Hefford.

The Blizzard scored with 1:23 left in the period, making it a 3-1 game.

Third period

The Blizzard scored two goals early in the third period, tying the game 3-3.

Goaltending

Joel Goguen played in net for the Rambler, stopping 35 of the 38 shots he faced.

His teammates had 29 shots on the Blizzard net.

Attendance

Attendance at the Centre Jean Daigle was 2,406.

Standings

The shootout loss gives the Ramblers 25 points in 20 games, putting them in fourth place in the Eastlink South Division.

They are one point behind the Truro Bearcats, seven points behind the Yarmouth Mariners, and 11 points behind the South Shore Lumberjacks.

Upcoming Games

The Ramblers are in Lunenburg to play the Lumberjacks on Friday, and return home Saturday to host the St. Stephen Aces.
