BERWICK, N.S. — Robbie Burt and Brock Bartholomew each scored third period goals as the Amherst CIBC Wood Gundy Ramblers nipped the Valley Wildcats 6-4 in Maritime Junior Hockey League action on Sunday.
Burt had two goals in the game for the Ramblers, who dropped a 3-1 decision to the Fredericton Red Wings on home ice Saturday and may have lost goalie Tyler Caseley long term to an injury in the first period.
Mark Richard, Stephen Fox and Caleb Rich also scored for Amherst on Sunday.
Burt had two assists to go with his two goals while Matthew Helpard, Dylan MacDonald, Fox, Cole Darrach, Cole Waugh, Spencer Smith, Max Boudreau, Jason Gallant and Julian Hebert added assists.
The Ramblers trailed 2-1 after one period and led 4-2 after two, only to have Darren Waterman and Ethan Kearney scored goals in the third period to tie the game 4-4.
Eighteen seconds after Kearney tied the game, Bartholomew scored what proved to be the game winner for the Ramblers.
Joel Goguen earned the win in goal for Amherst, facing 31 shots, while Chad Arseneault suffered the loss, facing 43 shots.
With the win, Amherst moved to 6-5-1; Valley fell to 3-10.
The two teams play again next Saturday in Amherst at 7 p.m.
On Saturday, Noah Cauchi, Eliot Bergbauer and Liam Smith into an empty net with 19 seconds to play paced the Red Wings over the Ramblers.
Spencer Smith scored the lone Ramblers’ goal with Ben Williams adding an assist.
Amherst outshot the Red Wings 41 to 38.
