AMHERST – The track and field team at Amherst Regional High School have one goal this weekend; to bring the Division 2 provincial championship banner home to ARHS.

“We haven’t seen the Division 2 banner in about 10 years, and it’s do-able,” said track coach Michelle Stubbert. “If all the athletes perform well in their individual events, and the relays go through, we’ll have a shot.”

The Nova Scotia Schools Athletic Federation track and field championships runs Friday and Saturday in Sydney at Cape Breton University.

“All the individual athletes who qualified have the ability to be in the top eight for sure,” said Stubbert.

Thirty-three students made the trip to CBU.

Last year we only had four athletes competing in individual events at the provincials, and this year we have 21 students competing in individual events,” said Stubbert.
