SPRINGHILL - One of Springhll's best native son's will be inducted into the Maritime Motorsport Hall of Fame on Nov. 17.

Anyone who watched motocross racing in the 1970s will certainly remember a 'Bear' sighting and it usually was at the front of the pack coming out of the short shoot, through the whoops or over a tabletop jump.

It will be a big day for Gerald 'Bear' Davis, during the second annual induction into the new Hall of Fame.

Davis climbed aboard a bike for the first time in over two years in a Legends of Motocross race at River Glade and came home second to the other Springhill legend, Scott Lockhart.

Davis will join the existing 10 members inducted last year and another 10 that will be inducted this year.

The Maritime Motorsports Hall of Fame is the dream of Ernie McLean, builder and original owner of River Glade Speedway, and is being built in picturesque Peticodiac, N.B., just a few kilometers from Moncton on the Trans Canada.

Davis is being inducted in the competitor category with a long list of accomplishments, including his Canadian Championship season.

"This is a great honour and I'm thrilled about it,' Davis said.

The River Glade weekend was a celebration of racing including one for Racers form the 1970s that not only featured Davis and Lockhart, but long-time friend Jack Stine. The group made a solid triumverate during their racing careers.
