AMHERST, N.S. – Over 100 awards were recently distributed to the Spartans swimmers to mark their success in a number of mid-season competitions.

“The number of swimmers earning provincial standards, best times and placing at championships is a clear indication of just how much effort the swimmers are dedicating to their sport,” said Spartans coach Jan Matthews. “The group is clearly building momentum as they head into the season’s spring competitions.”

With regional competitions in Truro and Pictou, Nova Tech swimmers Adelynn Fisher, Gemma Leslie-Dowe, Ava Taggart and Eve Thibedeau recorded a number of personal best times.

They also attended a New Brunswick Premier Level meet in Sackville with many of the older members of the swim club.

The Age Group swimmers also competed at a variety of other meets, including the Nova Scotia Top 16 meet, the New Brunswick Open and the Nova Scotia AA Winter Champs meet.

“Even with the Christmas break and re-focusing through the January training period, there has been significant success in the pool,” said Jan Matthews. “The team is looking forward to upcoming competitions in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and PEI.”
