Amherst A’s Holiday Shootout a success

AMHERST – The Amherst A’s Green Team beat the Amherst A’s Black team 43-38 in the final game of the inaugural Amherst A’s Holiday Shootout.

The Amherst Minor Basketball Association hosted the Under-14, five-team tournament, which ran Friday and Saturday.

Anickin Bouwens led the Green team in the final game with 21 points, Bo Vandewiel scored nine, Luke Allen scored eight, Evan Legere four, and Nate Campbell three.

Jessie Goodwin scored 11 for the Black team, Cody Hill 10, Ashton Fortune eight, and Kirkland Porter six.

The Green team lost 26-17 to Pictou County.

Vandewiel scored seven, Tyler Milner three, Jason Amos, Legere and Bouwens scored two each, and Jasper Bushen scored one.

The Black team also played Pictou, losing 31-30.

Ashton Fortune scored 11 points, Hill eight, Dillon MacLeod five, and Jackson Reid, Isaiah Fortune, and Goodwin scored two each.
