AMHERST, N.S. – Gymnasts from throughout the Maritimes are in Amherst this weekend to compete at the Aerials March Break Invitational at Amherst Regional High School.
“We have 230 gymnasts competing this weekend,” said Michelle Landry coach of the Aerials Gymnastics Club. “And about 50 gymnasts from this club competing in everything from recreational right through to Level 8.”
She says the girls have been working hard for their home meet.
“It’s the final meet before provincials, so they’re working on new skills and trying to put a push on for the end of the year,” said Landry.
The club is looking for volunteers to help move equipment to ARHS.
On Thursday night they load trucks at 5 p.m., at the Aerials Gymnastics Club, located at 10 Lawrence Street.
On Friday, they unload equipment at ARHS and set it up at 3 p.m.
On Sunday, they tear everything down at ARHS at about 2 p.m.
On Tuesday night they set everything back up at their club.
