Nickerson, MacDonald throw no-hitters in little league action

AMHERST – Mandel Nickerson and Reece MacDonald threw no-hitters as the Mixers and Lions picked up lopsided victories in Amherst Little League Baseball action on Wednesday.

Nickerson was only an error and a walk away from a perfect game. He also struck out 15 Y’s Guys’ batters in an 8-0 win.

Ashton Wilcox pitched for the Y’s Guys, giving up six hits, five walks and striking out two.

Burke Beed , Aidan McBurnie and Jackson Reid each doubled for the Mixers while Hayden Crocket, Mandel Nickerson and Turkey Porter singled.

Reece MacDonald struck out 16 of the 19 batters he faced as the Lions defeated the Carters Cresting Cubs 22-0. He only walked three and gave up no hits.

Jaxon Reynolds pitched for the Cubs, giving up 17 hits, walking 11 and striking out five.

Reece MacDonald singled twice, doubled and tripled; Gregor Millard and Kyler Edwards singled and doubled; Nolan McNally doubled and tripled; Ryan Oderkirk singled three times; Austin Dickie singled twice and Nathaniel Noiles and Connor Masters each singled once.

On Monday, the Mixers moved into a first-place tie with a 7-1 win over the Lions.

Aidan McBurnie gave up five hits, walked four and struck out 14 for the Mixers to earn the win; Kyler Edwards gave up 12 hits, walked two and struck out six for the Lions.

Aidan McBurnie singled and doubled for the Mixers as did Turkey Porter. Burke Beed doubled and Nate Arseneau singled three times. Connor O’Brien and Jackson Reid each singled twice and Mandel Nickerson singled once.

Kyler Edwards singled twice for the Lions with Owen Wood, Reece MacDonald and Gregor Millard each adding one single.

In the other game, the Y’s Guys and Cubs were tied 12-12 when the game was suspended in the bottom of the fifth.

Aaden McAloney and Ashton VanSnick pitched for the Y’s Guys, giving up 10 hits, walking 12 and striking out eight. Sawyer Harvey pitched for the Cubs. He gave up nine hits, walked five and struck out seven.

Jesse Goodwin doubled and tripled for the Y’s Guys while Chase Livingston hitting two singles and Ashton Wilcox, Aaden McAloney, Ashton VanSnick and Caleb Oullton each hitting one single.

Will Allen hit four singles for the Cubs with Sawyer Harvey hitting a single and a double, Cohen Ingraham hitting two singles and Jaxon Reynolds and Ryan Wilson each hitting one single.

The game will be completed on July 9.
