Lions, Y's Guys force deciding games in little league play

Series finales set for Monday at 6 p.m. at little league complex

AMHERST, N.S. — There will be a deciding game in the Amherst Little League A system’s championship and consolation series.

Owen Wood scored the winning run in the bottom of the sixth as the Lions nipped the Carter’s Cresting Cubs 9-8 to force a third, and deciding, game in the A system championship series as the Lions rallied from an 8-6 deficit to score three times in the final inning.

Ethan Fraser and Owen Wood each tripled in the final inning while Rylan Fraser walked with one out to start the rally.

Fraser also doubled and singled for the Lions in the game while Wood tripled in the first inning and doubled in the third. Nathaniel Noiles singled twice and Chayse Neves singled in the game.

The Cubs scored three times in the top of the sixth to overcome a 6-5 decision and had the bases loaded with two outs when Cohen Ingraham hit a long ball to left field that Riley Larade was able to grab before it got to the fence to end the inning.

Jaxon Reynolds doubled twice and singled for the Cubs while Connor Hunter tripled and singled and Phoenix Remington singled twice and doubled. Sawyer Harvey, Noah Petten and Cohen Ingraham each singled for the Cubs.

Owen Wood earned the win in relief of Ethan Fraser. They gave up 11 hits, walked four and struck out eight. Sawyer Harvey suffered the loss in relief of Jaxon Reynolds. They gave up nine hits, walked five and struck out five.

In the consolation series, the Y’s Guys defeated the Mixers 22-6. Caleb Oulton gave up two hits, walked eight and struck out nine while Evan Gray, Kobe Reid and Austin Murray pitched for the Mixers, giving up 13 hits, walking four and striking out three.

Mason Sloan homered and singled for the Y’s Guys, Caleb Oulton hit three singles and doubled, Aaaden McAloney doubled twice, Chase Livingston doubled twice and singled, Logan Boudreau and Connor MacDougall each singled and doubled and Nick Atkinson doubled.

Mandel Nickerson and Carter Lusby singled for the Mixers.

The deciding games in both series are on Monday at 6 p.m.
