SPRINGHILL, N.S. – After starting the inaugural season as the kings of the Cross-Border Women’s Recreation Hockey League jungle, the Maltby Sports Lions have had a rough couple of games.
Lions vs. Cougars
The Lions were recently mauled by the Wayne ‘Butch’ Auto Sales Cougars, losing 10-3.
Alysha Manderson had the hot hands with four Cougar goals, while Carole Gautreau had three, Casie Skidmore two, and Wanda Jewers one.
Lions vs. Tigers
The Lions were nicked by the Archway Insurance Tigers, losing 3-2
Stacey Webb, Jolyane Lavalle and Jasmine Richard scored one goal each for the Tigers, with assists going to Jodie Wood and Danielle Robichaud.
The Lions were led by Shannon Hanna with two goals, with assists by Emily Wainwright, Jackie Cormier-Duplessis and Steph Irving.
Both goaltenders, the Tigers Kat Aube and the Lions Taylor Ripley, had a little help from their friendly neigborhood Mr. Goal Post.
Tigers vs. Cougars
In other CBWRCL action, the Tigers beat the Lions by a score of 5-3.
The Cougars had clawed back to tie the game 3-3 with five minutes left in the 3rd period, but the Tigers put 2 more in before the end of game.
Leading the charge for the Tigers was Danielle Robichaud and Stacey Webb with two goals each, while Lise Leblanc had one goal. Jodie Wood and Ericka Webb assisted on the goals. The Cougars damage was done by Caitlyn Matchett, Alysha Manderson and Alyson Pickard. Manderson and Pickard had assists as well.
The winning goalie was Laurie Terris, while Lauren Gould kept her team in it.
Upcoming Games
The league plays Wednesday’s at 9 p.m., and Sunday at 7 p.m. in Springhill, except for Sunday, Nov. 11, which is Remembrance Day.
