Lions, Mixers tied for top spot in Amherst Little League standings

AMHERST – The Lions and Mixers will go to the final night of the Amherst Little League’s A system regular season tied for top spot.

The Lions scored in the bottom of the sixth on Wednesday to defeat the Mixers 4-3 to move into a first-place tie in the A system standings. This came after the Mixers scored twice in the top of the sixth to tie the game.

Kyler Edwards singled and doubled for the Lions while Connor Masters had two singles.

Mandel Nickerson, Jackson Reid, Caleb Campbell and Aidan McBurnie each singled for the Mixers.

Nolan McNally outdueled Aidan McBurnie on the mount to get the win. McNally gave up four hits, walked three and struck out 14. McBurne gave up four hits, walked four and struck out 15.

In the other game, the Y’s Guys defeated the Carter’s Cresting Cubs 13-7.

Jesse Goodwin and Aiden McAloney pitched for the Y’s Guys, giving up three hits, walking 10 and striking out nine. Adrien Rioux, Sawyer Harvey and Jaxon Reynolds pitched for the Cubs, giving up nine hits, walking four and striking out seven.

Jesse Goodwin singled and tripled for the Y’s Guys, Nick Atkinson singled and doubled, Mason Sloan and Caleb Oulton each doubled and Ashton Wilcox singled twice.

Kieran Sears doubled and Sawyer Harvey and Will Allen each singled for the Cubs.

On Monday, the Mixers rallied with four runs in the fifth to defeat the Cubs 5-4.

Burke Beed earned the pitching win for the Mixers, giving up three hits, walking five and striking out 15 while Kieran Sears gave up four hits, walked six and struck out 10 for the Cubs.

Burke Beed doubled twice for the Mixers with Aidan McBurnie and Nate Arseneau each adding a single.

Brady Farrish doubled for the Cubs with Sawyer Harvey and Connor Hunter adding singles.

The Lions defeated the Y’s Guys 13-0.

Kyler Edwards pitched for the Lions while Caleb Oulton and Ashton VanSnick pitched for the Y’s Guys.

Kyler Edwards, Owen Wood, Gregor Millard and Ethan Fraser each doubled for the Lions with Reece MacDonald adding a pair of singles. Chase Livingston singled for the Y’s Guys.
