AMHERST, N.S. – The Amherst CIBC Wood Gundy Ramblers lost 7-3 to the Pictou County Weeks Crushers Friday night at Amherst Stadium.
First Period
The first period ended with the Crushers up 1-0.
Second Period
Caleb Rich tied the game 1-1 at 7:14 into the second period off passes from Stephen Fox and Brock Bartholomew, then Cole Waugh put the Ramblers up 2-1, off feeds from Rich and Max Boudreau.
Pictou County scored three goals before the close of the second period taking a 4-2 lead going into the third period.
Third Period
The Crushers went up 5-2 at 8:07 into the third, when Cole Darrach made it a 5-3 game at 9:35 into the third with assists from Fox and Jason Gallant.
Pictou County added two more goals, including an empty-netter.
Goaltending
Ramblers goaltender Matthew Normore stopped 23 of the 29 shots he faced, while his teammates had a total of 36 shots on Pictou goaltender Andrew MacLeod.
Standings
The loss puts the Ramblers in fourth place with 39 points.
The Yarmouth Mariners lead the Eastlink South Division with 49 points, Pictou is second with 42 points, and the South Shore Lumberjacks are third with 41 points.
Upcoming Games
The Ramblers are on the road for three games. Saturday they’re in Edmundston to play the Blizzard, Sunday they’re in Grand Falls to play the Rapids, and then next Friday they’re in Bridgewater to play the Lumberjacks.
Next Saturday they return home to host Pictou County.
