SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — Tyler Caseley has a new home in the Maritime Junior Hockey League.
The Valley Wildcats traded the 19-year-old goaltender from Spring Valley, just outside of Kensington, to the Amherst Ramblers on Friday. In return for Casley, the Wildcats receive a third-round pick in 2020 and future considerations.
Caseley is coming off an outstanding rookie season in the 12-team loop. He backstopped the Yarmouth Mariners to the league championship while earning the rookie-of-the-year honours and being named to the all-rookie team.
Caseley went 25-7-2 (won-lost-overtime losses) while posting a 2.55 goals-against average and .911 save percentage in 36 regular-season games. In the playoffs, he was 12-2 with a 1.94 goals-against average and a .928 save percentage.
Caseley was traded to the Berwick, N.S.-based Wildcats on June 15 as future considerations to complete an earlier trade between the teams.
The Ramblers open the 2019-20 regular season against the Summerside D. Alex MacDonald Ford Western Capitals in Amherst, N.S., on Saturday night.
