AMHERST - Members of the Amherst Aerials Gymnastics Club are, weather permitting, travelling to Lower Sackville on Friday to compete at the Taiso Atlantic Cup.
It is their third competition of the season.
"They're coming along. They're getting stronger and cleaning up the little things," said Michelle Landry, Aerials coach.
Some athletes are advancing faster than others. Landry's daughter, Felicia Landry, is struggling through some injuries, but new gymnast, Emily Tower, is showing a lot of promise.
"Emily is showing a lot of progress," said Landry. "She's will be competing on bars and on the vault this weekend. I'm really proud of her."
Gymnasts from clubs throughout the Atlantic provinces have registered for the annual Aerials March Break Invitational, which takes place at Amherst Regional High School.
The meet usually attracts about 200 gymnasts but 300 have registered for this year's meet.
"It's great. We're excited," said Landry. "Maybe it's because they came to the provincials (at ARHS) last year and liked what they saw."
With more gymnasts comes an extra gymnastics session.
"It will mean a later night, and we'll need to get more donations and make up more treat bags."
