Cougars beat Tigers, lose to Lions

SPRINGHILL – Alysha Manderson scored three goals to lead the Cougars to a 4-2 win over the Tigers during Cross Border Women’s Recreation Hockey League action Wednesday night in Springhill.

Alyson Pickard also found the back of the net for the Cougars in the third period.

Scoring assists was Wanda Jewers, Brenna Counter, Karla Fulton and Pickard.

Andrea Faryniuk and Jasmine Richard scored for the Tigers, with Erika Webb, Stacey Webb and Colleen Bateman picking up helpers.

Patty Willgar was the winning goaltender, and Kat Aube got the loss.

On Sunday, the Lions scored four third-period goals to beat the Cougars 6-2.

Whitney Milner and Emily Wainwright scored two goals each for the Lions, with single goals scored by Shannon Hanna and Chloe Cormier.

Assisting on the goals was Steph Irving, Nicole Sears, Jenna Gogan, Krista Stewart, Megan Porter, Milner and Hanna.

Carole Gautreau and Stacey Webb scored for the Cougars, with Gautreau adding an assist.

Taylor ‘Toonie’ Ripley go the win in net for the Lions, and Lauren Gould got the loss.

CBWHL action resumes Wednesday night when the Cougars take on the Tigers at 9:00 p.m. in Springhill.
