AMHERST, N.S. – The Amherst Regional High School Vikings earned a bronze medal at their home tournament with a 93-71 win over the Central Kings Gators.

Brody MacDonald led the Vikings with 17 points at the 2019 ARHS Vikings Amherst Home Hardware Christmas Classic bronze medal game, followed by Luke Legere with 15, Ben Legere 14, Conor Barrett 11, Declan LeBlanc and Jagger Vandeweil 10 each, Nolan Starratt six, and Brennan VanVulpen, Liam Teed, Brody Greeno and Tyler Milner with two points each.

The Vikings entered the bronze-medal game following a 63-58 win over the Middleton Regional High School Monarchs.

VanVulpen led the Vikings with 17 points, Frank Bacon scored 14, Vandeweil and MacDonald scored seven each, Luke Legere six, Barrett five, and LeBlanc and Ben Legere scored three each.

ARHS opened the tournament with a 94-48 loss to the gold-medal winning Three Oaks Senior High School Axemen, who are from Summerside, PEI.

Pugwash District High School lost all three games they played, losing 79-71 to Fredericton High School, 75-60 to Central Kings, and 63-56 to Middleton.

Riley Madore led the Panthers against Middleton with 29 points. Other scorers included Ian Tilt with 12 points, and Cameron Purdy with five points.

Three Oaks won the gold-medal game with a 102-70 win over the Fredericton Black Kats.
