AMHERST, N.S. – The Oxford Bears won bronze at the ARHS JV Boys Tip-Off Basketball Tournament at Amherst Regional High School.

The six-team tournament featured the ARHS Vikings, the Springhill High School Eagles and the CP Allen Cheetahs (Bedford), the Oxford Regional Education Centre Bears, the Northumberland Regional High School Nighthawks (Alma), and the North Nova Education Centre Gryphons (New Glasgow).

The Bears earned the bronze medal with a 49-35 win over the Springhill High School Eagles.

Isaac Wood led the Bears with 18 points, Riley Rushton and Max Baker scored six points each, Grayson Cann and Mitch Baker scored five each, Mason Patriquin scored three points, and Josiah Bushen scored two points.

Noah Harrison led Springhill with nine points, Mateo Loppie and Isaac Rushton scored five each, Tyerel Porter score four, Brady Rushton and Carter Sharpe scored three each, Kenzee Rusthon scored two points, and Keegan Burke and Michael Varner scored one point each.

The Bears played in the bronze-medal game following a 54-25 win over NRHS, and an 81-43 loss to NNEC.

Springhill played in the bronze-medal game following a 65-61 win over ARHS, and a 61-32 loss to CPA.

ARHS came in fifth place in the six-team tournament after beating NRHS 56-42.

Besides losing to Springhill, Amherst also lost 65-43 to CPA in the round-robin portion of the tournament.
