Have you been enjoying the sun we have been having recently? We hope it is finally here to stay!

A detailed list of all our events with time and location can be found on our Amherst Recreation Facebook Page. Additionally, we will be making events and activities videos each week with details about upcoming events – stay tuned.

Registration is required for the following activities: Got Science where you can make a lava lamp with ‘A Team member Lexie, Thursday 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Beacon Street Park. As well, we will be offering a basketball camp with ‘A Team member Keira, July 19 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. for ages 7-12. To register, call 667-6500 or email familyfirst@amherst.ca.

Our Amherst Summer Night Market will be happening July 18 from 5 to 9:30 p.m. behind Dayle’s Grand Market. This event will include classic cars, live rockabilly bands, vendors, food trucks, and more! Stop by to check it out.

Don’t forget our second annual ‘A Fest is coming up soon! Mark your calendars for September 13 and 14. Join us for family first activities including a petting zoo, hay bales, horse rides, bike parade, bouncy castles, and more.

In addition, we will be offering live music and vendors to mark the occasion. If you are a local business looking to sponsor or be a part of ‘A Fest, please email jbickerton@amherst.ca. More information will be coming up soon!

Get an ‘A this summer from one of our Student Leaders! If a member of the ‘A Team catches you doing a good deed such as maintaining/beautifying your lawn, being active and healthy, engaging in community events, volunteering, etc. we will reward you with an ‘A Initiative. The ‘A initiative helps us to motivate our community members to help reach our goal of becoming the most active healthy community in all of Nova Scotia.
