BROOKDALE – The Amherst A’s, Team Gould, won the 2018 Amherst Minor Basketball Association Mini-Girls tournament with a 45-21 win over the Springhill Eagles in the championship game.

The three-day, six-team tournament last weekend at Cumberland North Academy featured three Amherst A’s teams, plus teams from Springhill, River Hebert and Advocate.

Kristin Dupuis led the A’s in the championship game with eight points, followed by Sophie Coates with seven, Jordyn Wolfe with six, Mataya Sangster, Meagan Teed, Sadie Harrison and Addison Dill with four each, and Cassidy Sangster and Isabella Shears with three points each.

Wolfe was presented with the Hustler of the Game Award at the end of the game, and Shears was given the Coach’s Choice Award.

Desiree Chatfield led Springhill in the championship game with 15 points, Tenille Wellman scored four points, and Jorja Spicer scored two points.

Team Gould made it to the championship game with a 53-10 win over River Hebert, and a 30-19 win over the Amherst A’s, Team Bushen.

Springhill made it to the final with a 34-28 win over the Amherst A’s, Team Wallis, and a 40-9 win over Advocate.

Team Wallis beat Team Bushen 31-25 in the bronze-medal game, and River Hebert beat Advocate 20-19 in the third pool game.
