LETTER: Bridge protest will backfire

August 3, 2018--The Alderney-bound and Halifax-bound ferries pass each other during an early morning rush hour Friday morning. The outlook for Nova Scotia weather includes high temperatures in the high 20 degree celcius levels, combined with humidex values in the mid- to high 30's.

Re: “Climate activist group plans to block Macdonald bridge” (Oct. 1 story). I fail to see how blocking the bridge or any other road helps promote a save-the-environment cause. If a route is blocked, people will have to reach their destination regardless, but they’ll have to drive further and longer.

Plus, it annoys people and justifies lack of support of your cause. How can any of this help the environment? Think before jumping on a fad bandwagon. Perhaps ask yourself, “What can I be doing myself to help the environment?” Walk the walk. And vote for a responsible government.
