Health care, I am terminally ill and am immersed heavily with in it.
I get a visit twice weekly from the VON and every two weeks from a palliative care nurse.
Frankly I feel embarrassed each time they visit, because I know this government is using the part of their brain, that says, I will help the sick and needy no matter what I am paid.
It is not only the low wages that is wrong. The infrastructure needs to be replaced, not next year, but right now.
Unfortunately, we have a premier who has a small business mind and not a clue how government spending works. Governments don't have to balance their books Trudeau hasn't even tried for years, he spent billions on infrastructure and created over a million good paying jobs.
Our government can do the same. The Victoria General comes to mind, as needing to be replaced. the feds will be happy to supply money for this, probably as much as 50 per cent, but more likely 60 - leaving the province and the municipality the extra 40 (30 per cent for the province and 10 for the municipality).
In the process they will create a thousand good paying construction jobs. Workers who pay taxes and not use EI .
Government spending is about creating jobs not balancing the books. I would suggest that should be the goal as would produce more high paying jobs
Collecting taxes is what balances the books, not cutting down. No businessman will bring his business to a province that can't provide good health care for his family. Fix what is broken. If McNeil can't get his mind around this he should resign and let someone who knows how to use the levers of power to run the government do it. The first step in our recovery is to fix what is broken.
