Winter is certainly upon us.

I always thought spring was the time of year when real estate booms, but I was wrong. It’s doing well here, now. A property on Ellis Street sold, as did one on the corner of Elm, corner of Prince William and Main. There could possibly be others.

Just to clear up a lot of gossip about the Lions Centre: they have been offered temporary shelter at the old Stanfields building until they decide what they are doing. No decisions have been made yet about their future but the stories are amazing and exciting. I will try to keep you all posted.

The Poetry at Large event in April is chugging along quite nicely. They have a Facebook site with information and the committee is nailing down poets and music and breakfast. We have added a youth component which we think is quite exciting. Our feature poets will be on Sunday, as usual. Watch for posters closer to the event.

This is an election year so things may get stirred up. There are reportedly a couple who are not reoffering. The county will be the one to watch as their boundaries have shifted. Elections can be quite exciting. But we will watch and see.

The Oxford Historical Society is installing the old town hall clock in the arena with a plaque. I don’t know if new guts can be added to make it work or not, but we shall see. The world has gone digital and us older generation have been left behind. Twenty years from now, 10 to 2 will bring a raised eyebrow response.

The Rogers’ house on Lower Main has a beautiful aqua front door. Look next time you go by. It is lovely.

The most popular thing in Oxford lately has been ‘The Bunny Trail." It's a beautiful woodland walking trail of the Trans-Canada Trail. Everyone is enjoying it.

Al and Maxine Clark have been the mainstay of this trail. I have been there quite a few times and always meet people on it. A truly lovely spot with benches and views and accessible to nearly everyone. And it was named the Bunny Trail by Wade Adshade’s daughter because it looks like a bunny sitting down when seen from above.

I had a lady in town call me and wanted me to do a paragraph about her dog. She purchased something chewy for the dog but the pet developed cluster seizures. She did some research and found out it was caused by the chew.

So the moral of the story is read the contents and ask questions about what you are putting in your animal’s mouth. I had no idea something like this could happen. Seems the FDA is aware of this, but I have no idea where it will go from here.
