Theresa Mae Smith

It is with sadness we announce the passing of Theresa Mae Smith, age 85, of Lower Cove, N.S. Theresa passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre. Born in Lower Cove, N.S., she was a daughter of the late Harry and Beatrice (Cormier) Bourgeois. Theresa worked for the Highland View Regional Hospital from 1950 -1953, then at the Alpine Bus Terminal in Fernie BC from 1964-1970. Upon returning to Cumberland County, she harvested strawberries & blueberries until 1998. She loved to play cards, spending time on her computer, reading books and going for drives She loved her family and always looked forward to time with her children, grandchildren, great and great great grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her daughters, Barb (Larry "Archie") O'Brien, Marilyn (Dara) White, and Brenda Smith, all of Amherst, N.S.; sons, Billy (Charlene), Grimshaw, AB, Johnny (Pam), Amherst, N.S.; brothers Edward (Eva) and Victor (Kathy) Bourgeois of Lower Cove, N.S.; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John, grandson Gregory Gallant, great great grandson Ryan Chapman and brother, Earl. Arrangements have been entrusted to Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St., Amherst, N.S. (902-667-8777). A graveside committal service will take place in the St. Denis Cemetery, Minudie, N.S., on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. Donations in memory of Theresa may be made to the charity of your choice.
