Owen Stiles 1951 - 2017 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Owen Edward Avard Stiles, 66, of St. Isidore, Ontario, on November 13, 2017, at the Ottawa Hospital. Born in Amherst, Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late Bedford and Elaine Stiles. Those who knew Owen remember a devoted Christian who was always quick to help anyone in need. He had a warm and caring personality, and always enjoyed a good laugh with family and friends. He had a life-long love of flying, found joy in watching horse jumping, and looked forward to spending time playing his online train simulation programs. Owen was a proud member of the Canadian Armed Forces for 33 years. Following his retirement from the Military, he was employed by L3 Communications. Owen will be sadly missed by his wife of almost 23 years, Virginia (nee Derowin) Stiles; daughter Cheryl (Jack) Kooy, Penticton, BC, and son Craig (Angela) Stiles, Georgetown, ON; grandmother Pauline Read, Amherst, NS; grandchildren Alicia Slade, Calgary, AB, and Dustin Slade, Kelowna, BC; great-grandson Jonathan Roach, Kamloops, BC; siblings, Gloria (Charles) Joyce, Brookfield, NS, Diane (Victor) Bacon, Upper Nappan, NS, David (Heather) Stiles, Brampton, ON, Linda Adams, Southampton, NS, Raymond Stiles, Southampton, NS, Nancy (John) Steeves, Kingston, NS, Michael (Sari) Stiles, Nappan, NS, Kelly (Kevin) Ripley, May, Texas, Mary (Moe) Read, Westlock, AB, Philip (Brenda) Read, Athabaska, AB; step-siblings Allen, Reta, Kora Lynn, Betty Jean, Bobby, and Monica; mother of his children Donna (Michael) Cox, Amherst, NS; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Owen was predeceased by his step-father, Garnet Bird, infant sister, Norma Jean Stiles, and step-sister Verna Bird. His remains have been cremated. Graveside service will be held at Beechwood Funeral Home, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa, Ontario, on November 22, 2017, at 2PM. Special thanks to the 5 East staff of the Ottawa Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or charity of your choice.
