The family of Manley Edward Hawkes, age 86, of Amherst NS are deeply saddened, yet joyful, to announce his passing from this world into the presence of his Saviour on March 13, 2018 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre with family by his side. Born in Coal Creek, NB, he was the son of the late Walter Irvine and Almeada (Vail) Hawkes. Manley worked in construction his whole life and was instrumental in the building of three churches in Nova Scotia. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 51 years, Lorraine (Harper); children Rachel (Alex) Tupper of Ottawa ON, Paul (Sherri) of Collingwood NS, Naomi (Bob) Ferdinand of Amherst, Andrew (Sarah) Belleville ON, Stephen (Deanna) Amherst NS and Rebecca (Scott) White of Kennetcook, NS as well as grandchildren Esther, Justin, Taylor, Micah, Katie, Josie, Hannah, Joel, Luke, Owen, Dawson, Landon, Brianna and Olivia; sister Elsie Vail and Joyce Hawkes; brothers in-law Ronald (Becky) Harper, Blair (Doris) Harper, James Marshall Harper, and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Besides his parents, Manley was predeceased by his son David; brothers Stanley, Gerald, Clifford, Arthur, sister Ida, and other siblings in infancy; sisters-in-law Katherine Harper & Glenna (Edison) Allison. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 19, 2018 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St. Amherst, 902-667-9906. The Funeral Service will be held on March 20th at 2PM at Revival Centre, Faith UPC, 172 Robert Angus Dr. Amherst, with Rev. Jonathan Cole officiating. Donations can be made in Manley’s memory to the Revival Centre Building Fund or to the UPC Foreign Missions. Family flowers only.
