James 'Jim' Brooks

BROOKS, James ‘Jim’ James ‘Jim’ Brooks, 83 years of age, of Amherst, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 21, 2019. Born in Lindsay, ON, he was a son of the late John and Vera (Badgeley) Brooks. Jim was a hard worker, who's family came first. Jim enjoyed to tinker and work on his car. He loved music, especially jazz, blue grass and country. Jim was a homebody but loved to have friends and family over for a visit. If Jim loved you, he loved to torment you. Jim will be sadly missed by his wife, Shirley; son, James ‘Jimbo’ (Lee) of Sarnia, ON; sisters, Barb Hand of Flordia, Linda Ross (Rick) of Corunna, ON; sister in law, Mary Lee Melanson (Layton Porter) of Amherst, Eleanor Haines (Sidney) of Berts Corner, NB; brothers-in-law, Garnet Melanson (Lorna) of Amherst, Lonnie Melanson (Pearl) of Amherst, Rick Melanson (Lorna) of Maccan, NS, Timmy Melanson of BC; nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, John, Wally, Paul, Fred; brother-in-law, David Melanson; sister-in-law, Rose Melanson. He was a cherished son-in-law to the late Eugene and Beatrice Melanson. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Jones Family Funeral Centre, 70 Church, Amherst, NS (902-667-8777). The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 from 1 - 3 p.m. at the funeral home with a memorial service to follow at 3 p.m. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and doctors on the surgical wing of the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre.
