Ivan J. Gould

GOULD, Ivan J. Ivan J. Gould, 83 years of age, of East Amherst, passed away peacefully at the QEII infirmary with his family by his side on Thursday, November 7, 2019. Born in Shemogue, NB he was a son of the late Leo and Lea (Jacob) Gould. Ivan was a Corporal in the Canadian Air Force. He worked at Robb Engineering, IMP, was a material manager for Northern Telecom. Ivan owned and operated Kelly's Ambulance (1982) Ltd until 1996 when he and Sylvia retired. Ivan loved to read, especially Louis L'Amour books. He was a collector of John Wayne memorabilia. He enjoyed traveling, to Europe, Cuba and Florida. He was an Amherst Jr. Ramblers fan and enjoyed watching his grandson play hockey. Ivan was always busy, tinkering in his yard, making wine and entertaining family and friends at his cottage in Tidnish. He enjoyed playing cards, especially 45's and Rummoli. Ivan was past president of the RCAF Atlantic Group and amongst many awards, he was the recipient of the Queens Golden Jubilee medal award and the Commemorative Medal for the 125th Anniversary of the Confederation of Canada. Ivan will be sadly missed by his wife of 61 years, Sylvia; children, Wendy Perkins of Fredericton, Terry of Thailand, Gary (Victoria) of Brookdale, Cheryl Lefler (Ken) of Brookdale; grandchildren, Jason, Kate, Travis, Justin, Cole; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Emmett, Abby, Liam; sisters, Yvette Kyte (Tom) of Bathurst, Pauline Marcial (George) of Kelowna, BC, Leo-Lynn Boudreau (Francis) of Kitimat, BC; step-brother, Roger Tait of Richmond, BC; brother-in-law, Gary Raddin of Amherst; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Ivan was predeceased by, step father, Douglas Tait; sister, Eileen Lewis; brother in infancy, Harvey; son-in-law, John Perkins; nephews, Michael Kyte, Tom Kyte Jr. and Gerald Kyte. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Jones Family Funeral Centre, 70 Church St., Amherst, NS (902-667-8777). The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 2- 4 and 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Jones Family Funeral Centre on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at 2 p.m. Burial will take place in the Riverside Cemetery, Tidnish at a later date. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Cumberland County Palliative Care/Hospice Society, or the charity of your choice.
