It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that the family of the late Dora Porter, announces the passing away of a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend on Tuesday June 5th, 2018, at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Amherst. Born in Antigonish, NS, she was a daughter of the late Arlie Murphy and Bill Flynn. Dora cherished and valued her time with her family. She was kind hearted, loving and would go above and beyond to fill the needs of the ones she loved. Despite her obstacles, she always managed to keep a smile on her face by doing things she loved, such as her day trips, her puzzles and her music. Family and friends was important to Dora. She knew the value they had on her life and she held them with high esteem. Among many other activities, she was an active member of the local congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses for many years. Without a doubt, you could say Dora was a beautiful person inside and out. She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her, son, Kevin Porter, Grand Prairie, AB; daughter Rhonda Porter, Amherst; five grandchildren, James, Megan, Devin, Brandon and Tylor; great granddaughter, Quinn; sister, Colleen Marks, Amherst; brothers, Bernard Flynn, Amherst and Lester (Twyla) Flynn, Prince George, BC; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Besides her parents, Dora was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Gordon Porter. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Campbell’s Funeral Home, Amherst (667-9906). Dora’s funeral service will be conducted at a later date from the Amherst Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 25 John Black Road. Donations in Dora’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
