D. Moreen Reid It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of D. Moreen Reid, age 101, of Amherst, December 1st, 2017 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan, while surrounded by her loving family. Born in Diligent River, N.S., she was the daughter of the late William and Eudora (Dean) Joyce. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother, and will be fondly remembered by her son Anson (Ann) Reid of Amherst, sister Bayna Friars of Bedford, 12 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Kelton Reid, daughters Joyce Myatt, Connie Watson, Betty Miller, Lois Ann Rayworth, sisters Ruth Tibbetts and Vera McLellan, and brother Ernest Joyce. She worked for many years at Terris Pharmacy, Ormands Drugstore, and the Amherst Stadium. Moreen was a member of the IODE Tantramar Chapter, and volunteered for many years at the Amherst Food Network, VON Foot Clinic, Meals on Wheels, and other organizations, and received Volunteer Of The Year for her efforts. She enjoyed travelling, trout fishing, and playing cards. Moreen was a very active and honorary member of the First Baptist Church, Amherst, as well as the Mothers Association. Cremation has taken place. Moreen’s family will receive visitors at Campbells Funeral Home, 98 Church Street, Amherst, on Thursday, December 7th, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be celebrated at the First Baptist Church, Amherst, on Friday, December 8th, at 2 pm, with Rev. Don Miller and Rev. Dan Green officiating. Reception to follow in the Christie Room. Interment will take place in the Amherst Cemetery. In lieu of floral tributes, memorial contributions in Moreen’s memory may be made to the First Baptist Church.
