AMHERST, N.S. – Freddy Krueger is coming to Amherst, well sort of.

The Amherst Artisan Gallery is working with Kelley Brine in hosting the third Scarefest at the Amherst Centre Mall from Oct. 26 to 30 and will follow a movie theme including The Saw, The Exorcist, Friday the 13th and, of course, the Halloween series of movies.

Scarefest is happening in the former Shoppers Drug Mart.

Hours are 2 to 4 p.m. (family friendly) and 6 to 9 p.m. (teens and adults) on Oct. 26, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. (family friendly) and 3 to 6 p.m. (teens and adults) on Oct. 27, 1 to 4 p.m. (family friendly) on Oct. 28 and 6 to 9 p.m. on Oct. 29 and Oct. 30 (teens and adults).

Cost is $5 for teens and adults and $3 for children, with one dollar off with the donation of a non-perishable food item.

The artisans gallery with the help of Fort Equipment is holding a wagon ride around the perimeter of the mall ghost stories around the firepit at the rear of the building.

That’s taking place Oct. 25 and 26 with a couple of local authors telling the ghost stories.

Also coming up is a Saturday Jam Session with Slim Pickens, Fabian, Richard Burke and Roxanne Legere.

It runs from 1 to 3 p.m. and will feature easy listening, folk, rock and country music.
