Stolen camper hits pole in Halifax

HALIFAX, NS - A man is facing several charged after a camper that had been reported stolen was backed into a pole in Halifax on Friday (Aug 18).

Around a witness called police to report a truck towing a camper had backed into a pole on Olivet Street. The truck then left the area.

A camper matching that description had been reported stolen earlier in the day.

Police spotted the truck and tried to stop it but it picked up speed. It was later seen in an outbound lane on Highway 103, before doing a U-turn and heading back on an inbound lane.

A spike belt was used to stop the vehicle and a 38-year-old man was charged with theft, failing to stop at the scene of an accident, resisting arrest, and dangerous driving.
