SYDNEY MINES, N.S. —

Cape Breton Regional Police have three men in custody after reports that shots were fired near a residence on Main Street early Tuesday morning.

At approximately 3 a.m. officers at the police station observed a Dodge Ram truck speed through the nearby intersection. While pursuing the vehicle, police received reports that shots had been heard on Main Street and that a vehicle matching the description of the truck had fled the area.

The truck travelled to Highway 125, where officers continued following until it was safe to pull over near the Sydport exit. Additional police vehicles responded to the area and instructed the occupants to exit. All three complied and officers placed them under arrest.

Two people were in the Sydney Mines home when the alleged shots were fired but no one was injured.

The investigation continues and police believe it was an isolated incident between the suspects and victims.
