Pugwash man wanted by RCMP arrested in Amherst

AMHERST, N.S. – Bradley James Barton, 34, of Pugwash, was apprehended without incident in Amherst on the morning of March 19 by the Cumberland District RCMP and the Cumberland County Street Crime Enforcement Unit (SCEU).

On March 7, Cumberland District RCMP obtained a warrant for the arrest Barton who has been charged with several offences in Cumberland County.

He is charged with: Theft of a Motor Vehicle; Theft Under $5,000 (four counts); Possession of Property Obtained by Crime; Mischief Over $5,000; Mischief Under $5,000; Breach of Recognizance (two counts).

The charges are in relation to the alleged theft of a volunteer firefighter's vehicle while he was stopped to provide assistance to Barton, who was involved in a collision with a vehicle that he is alleged to have stolen earlier that day.

The RCMP thank the public for their assistance in the apprehension of Barton.
