Hello from beautiful downtown New Salem

so nice to see the summer residents returning and tourists arriving to visit our beautiful spot of the country.

Vacation Bible School will be open the week of July 17 to the 21 in the mornings. You can contact Howie Makofsky for more information.

On Friday, July 5 the Advocate Volunteer Fire Brigade Ladies Auxiliary Bingo will be held at the Advocate Fire Hall at 7 p.m. Come on out for an evening of fun and there is also a canteen and 50/50 draw.

Open Mic will be held Saturday, July 13 at the Advocate Fire Hall at 7 p.m. There will be a canteen and 50/50 draw. Come on out for a great evening of great music and fun! Proceeds are for the Advocate and District Volunteer Fire Department.

On Saturday mornings the Down Shore Market will be open for the season from 9 a.m. to noon at the Log Building on Mills Road. Enjoy a morning of social time with friends new and old and enjoy the vendors wares also.

The Summer Reading Club is on now until the end of August.

Come to the Advocate Library to sign your kids up, and there is also a summer reading club for teens and for adults.

There are prizes to be won and it is free! For more information call the Advocate Library 902-392-2214.

On Tuesday evenings the Advocate Harbour Community Chorus is being held at the Advocate United Church at 7. This is not a church choir, but an open community chorus for everyone to enjoy and sing together.

On Sundays the Spencer's Island Craft and Farmers Market is open from 1 to 4 p.m.at 69 Beach Rd. in the Spencer's Island Community Hall off Hwy # 209, next to the Sun Moon and Stars!
They are pleased to announce a variety of new artisans who will be joining their quaint market this year. You will see lots of new smiling faces, artistic crafts such as; useful hand made wooden articles, handmade knitting, hooked rugs and toys; handmade jewelry; eco thermos bottles with beautifully applied designs; personalized wooden, glass, sewing and signs; handmade soaps, beeswax candles balms, creams, eco food wraps, and variety of honey and maple products; a variety of fresh locally grow seedlings, plants, vegetables (when is season), herbs, herbal tea blends and meals in a jar; and of course they have a variety of baking going on this year.

There is something for the whole family so take a drive and enjoy a Sunday afternoon, walk the beach and join them at The Spencer's Island Craft and Farmer's Market.

Tai Chi is being held at Chignecto Manor on Thursday evenings at 7. Everyone Welcome.

The Meals on Wheels program that operates from the Bayview Health Centre is seeing an increase in customers and they now need more volunteers to deliver meals on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

If you can help with deliveries or would like to receive this service yourself, please call the Health Centre at 902-392-5400: the kitchen at extension 6035 or the office extension 5402.

The Advocate United Church Service will be held at the Advocate United Church at 8:30 on Sunday mornings for the summer and fall.

Sunday School will be held at Chignecto Manor at 10 a.m. on Sunday mornings.
