MAITLAND BRIDGE, N.S. — Two people were airlifted to hospital following a single-vehicle crash at Maitland Bridge early today, April 4.

RCMP described it as a serious collision on Highway 8 with two people sustaining serious injuries.

“The single vehicle collision occurred shortly after 8 a.m. when the vehicle lost control, left the roadway and overturned in the ditch,” RCMP said. “The driver and one of the passengers in the rear seat of the vehicle were injured and were air lifted to hospital for medical treatment. “

Police said the third occupant of the vehicle was not injured.

Highway 8 between Maitland Bridge and Kempt was closed while an RCMP traffic analyst was called to examine the scene. The highway was expected to re-open later this afternoon.
