CROWES MILLS, N.S. — Two dogs and a cat are dead after a fire destroyed a mobile home in Crowes Mills Thursday.
“It’s pretty well a total loss,” said Clair Peers, communications officer for the Onslow-Belmont Fire Brigade. “They may be able to reconstruct some, but once the smoke and the water gets in, you have to gut it.”
Peers said no one was home when the blaze was reported at 3:20 p.m.
Approximately 35 firefighters from the Onslow-Belmont Fire Brigade, Debert, North River and Cobequid departments responded to the blaze and were on-scene at 417 Cross Rd., until about 6 p.m.
Damage was estimated to be between $125,000 and $140,000. Peers was unsure if the home was insured.
Peers said he was unsure of the cause of the fire or whether an investigation by the fire marshall’s office will be required.
Information on the residents of the home was not immediately available.
