PICTOU LANDING, N.S. — Kaden Mills has been a gamer since the age of two.
Super Mario Maker 2 is his favorite game right now It lets players construct their own levels and play through them, but Mills says that he's also a big fan of Minecraft.
And recently an art contest held by the Pictou Regional RCMP turned Mill's knack for crafting on the computer toward crafting for a police cruiser.
“He came up with a really great drawing, and so ten-year old Kaden Mills was the selection that we decided to go with on our police vehicles,” said Cpl. Ron Bryce. Bryce joined Mills along with his mother, father and two younger brothers outside the Pictou Landing First Nation Health Centre on July 4.
The contest was an idea of RCMP officer Cst. Everett Joe.
“He thought that it would be a good way to enhance relations between the police and members of Pictou Landing First Nation,” said Bryce.
Mills, who will be going into grade five next year, was one of many students from Pictou Landing Elementary School who submitted artwork for the contest.
Now that it’s summer Mills says that he’s looking forward to going camping in Prince Edward Island with his family and playing his Nintendo Switch.
“I like building stuff,” said Mills. “You just build, and when you think you’re done, you just play.”
