Hello from beautiful Downtown New Salem

I hope you are all having a great week and still enjoying this beautiful weather we have been having.

On Friday, Aug. 16 the Advocate Volunteer Fire Brigade Ladies Auxillary Bingo will be held at the Advocate Fire Hall at 7 p.m. Come on out for an evening of fun and there is also a canteen and 50/50 draw.

An open mic will be held on Saturday, Aug. 24 at the Advocate fire hall.

Come out for an evening of great music! There will be a 50/50 and canteen available. Proceeds are for the Advocate and District Volunteer Fire Department.

On Saturday mornings the Downshore Market will be open for the season from 9 a.m. to noon at the Log Building on Mills Road. Enjoy a morning of social time with friends new and old and enjoy the vendors wares also.

On Tuesday evenings the Advocate Harbour Community Chorus is being held at the Advocate United Church at 7. This is not a church choir, but a community chorus for everyone to enjoy and sing together.

On Sundays the Spencer's Island Craft and Farmers Market is open from 1 to 4 p.m. at 69 Beach Rd. in the Spencer's Island Community Hall off Highay 209, next to the Sun Moon and Stars!
They are pleased to announce a variety of new artisans who will be joining their quaint market this year.

There is something for the whole family so take a drive and enjoy a Sunday afternoon, walk the beach and join them at The Spencer's Island Craft and Farmer's Market.

Contact Margie if you have questions at 902-348-2900.

Tai Chi is being held at Chignecto Manor on Thursday evenings at 7.

The Meals on Wheels program that operates from the Bayview Health Centre is seeing an increase in customers and they now need more volunteers to deliver meals on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

If you can help with deliveries or would like to receive this service yourself, please call the Health Centre at 902-392-5400: the kitchen at extension 6035 or the office extension 5402.

The Advocate United Church Service will be held at the Advocate United Church at 9 a.m. on Sunday mornings for the summer and fall.

Well that's it for this week, have a great week everyone and enjoy your family and friends.
