Our summer students are almost done for the year! But don’t worry - we still have lots of activities scheduled before they leave us!

This is the final week for some of our summer programs including: Touring on Tuesdays, Trail Walks, and Active Family Fun.

Touring on Tuesdays: The last tour of the summer is the post office Aug. 20. If you’ve always wanted to check out the post office, or have a little one that would enjoy, this is the perfect opportunity! Meet the ‘A Team at Beacon Street Park at 1 p.m. to walk over to the tour location.

Trail Walks: The Town of Amherst was fortunate enough to partner with the Amherst & Area Trail Society this year to host numerous trail walks throughout the summer. The last walk of the summer will be on Aug. 20 at 5:15 p.m. Walkers will be meeting at the Amherst Bird Sanctuary for a walk of approximately one hour. For more information, email amherstareatrails@gmail.com or check them out on Facebook.

Active Family Fun: The last night’s theme is Family Fit Night. Join the ‘A Team at Dickey Park from 6 to 7:30 p.m. to play our fun games and activities suitable for the whole family.

Have you watched the Amazing Race before? Amherst is planning its very own ‘Amazing Race on Aug. 15. This event will take place at Beacon Street Park from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Registration is required so please email familyfirst@amherst.ca or call 902-667-6500 to reserve your spot.

Our Lunchtime Music in the Park series is almost done for the summer. The second last performance will be by Theresa Nicholls on Wednesday, Aug. 21 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Victoria Square. If you find yourself downtown on your lunch break, wander over and listen to live music.

Don’t forget, our second annual ‘A Fest is coming up soon! ‘A Fest is happening Sept. 12 to 15 this year with our Family Night Sept. 13 and Family Fun Day Sept. 14. Stay updated on information by following our Amherst Recreation Department Facebook page.
