NEW MINAS, N.S. — The Kings District RCMP is reporting that human remains have been recovered from the Cornwallis River in New Minas.

On May 16 at approximately 10 a.m., the Kings District RCMP received a report of the remains of a male individual being found near the end of Jones Road in New Minas. RCMP members attended the area and retrieved the remains from the Cornwallis River.

The RCMP is working with the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner’s Service and an autopsy will be conducted. The remains have not been positively identified.

The investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by the Kings District RCMP in conjunction with the Kentville Police Service.
