After investigating a report of an alleged abduction at the Aberdeen Shopping Centre, police have determined that no abduction took place.
A charge of public mischief has been made against the 39-year-old woman who made the allegation. She will appear in court at a later date.
On Jan. 20 the New Glasgow Regional Police got a report of an abduction that took place in the parking lot of the Aberdeen Business Centre, near the Giant Tiger store.
In a call with the News, Const. Ken MacDonald said that the New Glasgow Regional Police, and the Pictou County District RCMP performed a thorough investigation and through that investigation, “gathered enough evidence to come to the conclusion that the abduction didn’t happen.”
MacDonald added that, “the police therefore had probably grounds to lay a charge of mischief in relation to the misleading information.”
It was reported that an unknown male assaulted a woman, forcing her and himself into a Dodge Durango, subsequently travelling to Blue Mountain.
New Glasgow Regional Police and Pictou County District RCMP responded immediately, and initiated an investigation.
Police are emphasizing that there is no need to fear, but are continuing to investigate an alleged assault that took place in the community of Blue Mountain.
