AMHERST, N.S. — Officials with the Town of Amherst have issued a water boil advisory for residents in the Foundry Street and Lower Laplanche Street areas.
An advisory issued this evening shortly before 9:30 p.m. states that during a water main repair earlier today at the corner of Foundry Street and Copp Avenue it was determined there was potential for bacteriological contamination within a localized area of the water system. As a precaution, the boil advisory was issued for residents located in the affected area.
Affected residents were hand-delivered notices, advising them to boil their drinking water for two minutes prior to consuming their water.
Water in the affected area is being sampled as per regulations and residents will be notified when the boil order is lifted.
Further notices will be issued daily to affected residents providing updates of the work being done.
