FORT LAWRENCE, N.S. – A truck and trailer combination, carrying a large empty tank as cargo, became wedged beneath the Fort Lawrence underpass on Highway 104, just west of Amherst, after entering Nova Scotia shortly after crossing the Nova Scotia/New Brunswick border.

The crash occurred just before 5 p.m. on Tuesday.

Traffic on Highway 104 is currently reduced to one lane at the site of the collision and is expected to remain that way until the truck is freed later this evening.

Traffic on Fort Lawrence Road has not been impacted.

A bridge engineer has taken a preliminary look at the structure this evening and damage appears to be minimal.

A more thorough review of the damage will take place tomorrow.
